HISTORY OF SLIP&SLIDE SNOWBOARDERS:
The grassroots of snowboarding started back in the 60's
by a few skate and surf enthusiasts who used self-made
boards to convey their skills to a new terrain: THE SNOW.
Although it is hard to pinpoint the pioneer of
Snowboarding, it became more popular in the 70's and
80's.
True snowboarding pioneers such as Jake Burton came up
with new snowboard designs, materials and machineries
that had slowly developed into the snowboard, snowboard
bindings and other snowboard equipments we know nowadays.
The emergence of the sport paved the way to a lot of
ordinary people who took up and learned the skills of how
to become a snowboarder.
Through the popularity of the sport, 5 friends from
Toronto thought about organizing a group of snowboarders
with varying skill levels and ethnic backgrounds. They
started organizing group lessons, group sessions and
evidently started group trips outside Toronto, Ontario.
With a simple vision in mind Nhel Nava, Ken Antonio,
Nathan de Vera, Ire John Echavez and Alex Ingram started
Slip&Slide. When they started the group back in
Winter 2001-2002, they only had 10 members.
In 2004, Nhel Nava met Ed Feliciano and then began the
birth of Slip&Slide Snowboarders Inc.
In the winter of 2008, SnS grew to over 120 members from
Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, California and Michigan.
The group is officially named:
